First National Real Estate

In this episode, we delve into the important topics of vicarious trauma and secondary trauma.

Real estate agents are in a unique position in that we go into people's homes on a daily basis. As a result, probably more than any other profession outside of the human services sector, real estate agents are likely to come into contact with or witness domestic and family violence or abuse in some way or another.

Primary and secondary vicarious trauma can result from witnessing situations of domestic and family violence. Being trauma informed in our workplace helps to protect real estate practitioners but also provides better outcomes for clients who have or are experiencing domestic and family abuse.

Important note:
The content covered in this presentation is around domestic violence and abusive relationships. It may be upsetting or triggering, or it might stir up some experiences that you have had that might be challenging for you to manage.  If at any time you are feeling uncomfortable or need take some time out, please stop listening and reach out to your manager.
